Superheroes Make Super Bet

Well, the Super Bowl is over and you’ve likely read about all the many ruminations, cheers, commercials and jeers that have recently been associated with that sporting weekend event—everything from exasperated cries over coach calls to the fact that America consumed some 1 billion chicken wings during the big game. But there’s one connected story that you may not have heard that features Captain America and Star-Lord.

That’s right. It seems that a few weeks back, Chris Evans (a Patriots fan who happens to wear the stars and stripes on his chest as Captain America) and Seahawk super-fan Chris Pratt (a.k.a. Guardians of the Galaxys Star-Lord) exchanged a few superhero-sized tweeted taunts about which team would prevail on the big day. And the culmination of their exchanges was the “bet” that the fan of the losing team would show up at a children’s hospital in the winning team’s city wearing the winning team’s gear.

But while “Captain America’s” favorite team took the Super Bowl title, it turns out that kids in both Seattle and Boston are the winners. After watching the game together, the two actor pals tweeted out that they would be happily visiting hospitals side-by-side in both cities—dressed in full superhero regalia. Chris Pratt even added the scripture verse Psalm 126: 3, which reads, “The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.”

Now that’s some Super Bowl and superstar fun worth a good cheer no matter who you were rooting for.
